to right (Legislator Kate Browning receiving her award from Legislator Kate Browning (WF-Shirley) was honored by the Child Care Council of Suffolk at its Annual Meeting on June 19. Legislator Browning was presented with the 2009 Child Advocate of the Year Award for her advocacy efforts to expand child care subsidies for families in Suffolk County and to guarantee that Suffolk County is paying its child care providers on time. Her efforts helped Suffolk County receive a 19% increase in funding totaling $35.6 million from New York State, which will allow 1,000 more families to continue to work while their children are cared for in a safe environment. |
