Bradley Frabizio and Andrew Cappiello from Bishop McGann Mercy High School attended Shadow Day at the William H. Rogers Legislative Building in Hauppauge on Friday February 1, 2008. The Mentoring Partnership of Long Island organized the event to show our future workforce the various employment opportunities on Long Island. Bradley and Andrew joined other students from Suffolk County in Hauppauge, where they toured the legislature with their sponsor Legislator Kate Browning (WF-Shirley). Among the activities for the day was a mock legislative meeting in which the students drafted legislation on Universal Health Care and debated it on floor. Legislator Kate Browning said, "It is a great experience for these students to learn what a day in the life of a county legislator is like, and to see how county government operates". |
