Speaks With Residents About Important Community Issues
HUNTINGTON, NY –Suffolk County Legislator Steve Stern (D-Huntington) 16th LD, Chairman of the Veterans and Seniors Committee and Vice Chairman of the Public Works and Transportation Committee, spoke to North Babylon residents about community concerns at a Town Hall meeting held at the North Babylon Public Library. The meeting was one of Legislator Stern’s series of Town Hall meetings held throughout the 16th Legislative District to enable Legislator Stern to hear from community members and to update residents about important legislative initiatives. Legislator Stern addressed questions from attendees about County plans to expand capacity of the Southwest Sewer District to provide access to sewers for residents of Deer Park and North Babylon, as well as his “Universal Design and Visitability” legislation to require County affordable housing units to be accessible for those with special needs such as seniors and returning disabled veterans. Other topics of conversation included the recently passed “Silver Alert”, which assists in the safe return of those with Alzheimer’s and other cognitive disorders who are reported missing, and his ground-breaking, first in the nation “Toxin-Free Toddlers and Babies Act” which banned the use of BPA in infant and toddler bottles and cups. “Town Hall meetings are a great opportunity to meet with members of the community to discuss important issues and gain valuable insight from residents about the issues that affect their day to day lives,” Legislator Stern said. “I enjoy speaking with residents and look forward to future Town Hall meetings.” |
