LEGISLATOR STEVE STERN READS TO SIGNAL HILL STUDENTS

Parents As Reading Partners (PARP) Program Encourages Families to Real Together

HUNTINGTON, NY – Legislator Steve Stern (D-Huntington, 16^th L.D), participated in the Signal Hill Elementary School PARP program, reading to students from Ms. Picarello’s kindergarten class and Ms. Reed’s third grade class.   The PARP program helps foster a love of learning by encouraging parents to read to their children for 15 minutes a day.  The event had a Wizard theme and Legislator Stern read ”The Wizard Next Door” by Peter Glassman  to the children. 

“Reading together is a wonderful way for parents and children to share time together,” Legislator Stern said.  “It encourages a life long love of reading and learning that will stay with children for their entire lives.  I applaud Principal Deborah Ostrosky, Assistant Principal Christopher Smalley and the faculty of Signal Hill for their continued dedication to important programs such as PARP.”
