Welcome to the Suffolk County Legislature and my website where you will find information on our district and County Government.  It is my privilege to have been elected as your Suffolk County Legislator for the 16th District.  I bring my background experience and my passion to provide fiscal responsibility for our taxpayers, to protect our environment, and to preserve our quality of life for our families.  I promise to work hard to represent the interests of my neighbors and all of Suffolk County.  Please feel free to write, call, fax, email, or visit our office.  My staff and I are always available to assist you in any way we can.

Legislator Steve Stern

MAY IS “OLDER AMERICANS MONTH”
THE OLDER AMERICANS ACT SHOULD BE
REAUTHORIZED AND EXPANDED

May is “Older Americans Month,” a time to acknowledge and appreciate the contributions of our Older Americans. When Older Americans Month was established in 1963, only 17 million Americans had reached their 65th birthday and one-third of Older Americans lived in poverty. Originally designated “Senior Citizen’s Month,” President Kennedy sought to raise awareness and address the issues facing Older Americans and their families.

No Intermodal: Take Action to Protect the Edgewood Preserve

Dear Neighbor,

Thank you for visiting my website. As you know, I remain strongly opposed to the proposed Intermodal project on the former Pilgrim State property. Legislation is now pending in both the New York State Assembly and the New York State Senate which would transfer those lands permanently to the Edgewood Preserve. This legislation would effectively prevent New York State from building the Intermodal Project on this site. Please take a moment to send the letters linked on this site to these state officials to express your strong support for this legislation. Working together, we can help preserve our environment and our quality of life and keep our community a great place to live, work and raise our families.

Sincerely,

Steve Stern
