Message

I would like to thank the people of the Sixth Legislative District for electing me to represent them in the Suffolk County Legislature. I look forward to the work ahead, which I will meet with energy, and I always will do my job with honesty and integrity. I stand ready to work with the residents of the 6th LD to maintain a thriving community while protecting the character and wonderful attributes of this community.

Throughout my life I have always felt that our seniors and veterans are our community’s and country’s greatest assets and as the Vice Chairwoman of the Veterans and Seniors Committee, I will have the opportunity to preserve the way of life they treasure and protect the legacy they offer to guide our children’s futures. As a member of the Ways and Means Committee I will be given the opportunity to explore the day-to-day operations of the County Government to ensure that Suffolk County remains home for our families and children while providing the very best services that deserve.

Legislator Sarah Anker

Finally, my long-time work on the behalf of public health and environmental issues will allow me to have an important impact on the deliberations of the Environment, Planning, and Agriculture and the Health and Human Services committees to which I have been assigned.

My door will always be open for you, so please stop by my office at 620 Route 25A, Suite B, or call 854-1600 if you have any issue you want to discuss or if you need help in accessing county services. You can also contact me via e-mail at Sarah.Anker@suffolkcountyny.gov or visit my web site by going to http://legis.suffolkcountyny.gov and clicking on the photo of legislators and then on my individual photo.

It is truly an honor to be given this opportunity to represent you in the Suffolk County Legislature and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sponsored Legislation

- Sponsored legislation authorizing planning steps for the acquisition of 5.4 acres of land located on Landing Road in Miller Place, under the Suffolk County Drinking Water Protection Program. Environment (IR 1537-11)

- Legislator Anker is a co-sponsor of Presiding Officer William J. Lindsay’s proposed ban of the use of coal tar-based sealcoat in Suffolk County. Legislator Anker said the evidence is clear that such coal tar-based sealcoat is a serious threat to both human health and the entire marine life system. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons contained in such sealcoat are a known human carcinogen and studies by the United States Geologic Survey have shown that runoff from the sealcoat has serious negative effects on marine life. (IR 1162-11)
