Message

It is my honor to serve as Legislator for the Second Legislative District of Suffolk County. Our district is unlike any other. Extending from Montauk to East Moriches, we are the largest geographically and have the highest cost of living. This places a difficult burden on our many seniors and working families.  With each passing year, changes threaten our cherished small town way of life and our fragile environment.

Legislator Jay Schneiderman

Both as East Hampton Town Supervisor, and as your representative in Suffolk County government, I have worked hard to find responsible solutions to our area’s many challenges. In that effort, I have sponsored numerous initiatives aimed at:

  • Improving our health
  • Protecting our environment
  • Safeguarding our children
  • Relieving traffic congestion
  • Cutting taxes
As always, my staff and I are here to assist you in answering any questions about county government, its programs, and anything else that may be important to a constituent. Please feel free to stop by my office on Washington Street in Sag Harbor or call me anytime at (631) 852-8400.

SUFFOLK COUNTY PARKS TO HOST “DISCOVER SUFFOLK COUNTY
PARKS DAY” ON JUNE 27, 2013

Incentive Offered to Attract New Patrons to Parks in Their Own Backyard
Suffolk County Executive Steven Bellone signed new legislation declaring June 27, 2013 as “Discover Suffolk County Parks Day.” This measure is a pilot program designed to entice Suffolk County residents and visitors to discover the beautiful parks and recreational resources that Suffolk County Parks have to offer. This resolution introduced by Legislator Jay Schneiderman will allow all visitors to pay the discounted green key card rate at all County Parks. Generally at life-guard supervised beach parks, green key cardholders pay $8 while non-green key cardholders pay $15; and at inland parks green key cardholders pay $6 while non-green key cardholders pay $13. While visiting the parks, residents are encouraged to inquire about the Suffolk County Parks Green Key card which would allow them to continue to receive discounted rates for parking and other activities year round. Additional discounts are available for Seniors, Veterans, Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Personnel, and Active Military Personnel.
